I think the big bad diarrhoea + fever combo has gone down alot.. Actually I'm pretty sure that the fever is long gone, stomach's telling me its hanging sweeet down there too. Feels ok. Of course, there was the shitloads of medicine the motherly docter had prescribed for me when I went on Monday - Antibotics, rehydration salts, panadol, anti-diarrhoea pills, "dequalinum", "chlorpheniramine" etc etc..
When I checked the large weapons inventory stash the polyclinic issued to me at home, half-dazed from the subsiding fever, I was expecting to see a rocket launcher or the kitchen sink hidden behind the panadol. Damn. Except for the antibotics, I didn't touch the rest of the pills. Because like eg. the anti-diarrhoea pills may: "Causes constipation. May cause drowsiness. Do not operate heavy machinery." (Does writing half-stoned econs essays the day after count?) And speaking of the antibotics pills. They may look deceptively tiny.. But damn, even with the "take with plenty of water" advice on the label, they felt like iron bolts going down. After going through 18 out of the 20 (!) issued.. surprisingly it wasn't that difficult. So now, the final 2 sit quietly on the table. Ooh.. suspense.. like American Idol. I'm debating whether to finish them. No, not because they are that difficult an ass to swallow. The simple solution would be to finish it. Be a good boy and do as Ms. Doctor says. But after knowing about drug-resistant bugs like MRSA, and how antibotics which have been overused against them are now sometimes ineffective in some cases, I'm not sure finishing up those 2 pills is the sure clear-cut good thing it would seem to be doing. After all, with farmers already abusing antibotics to artificially prevent overcrowded farm animals from dying from diseases, the last thing I would want to do is to add on to the problem right? But then, not taking the last 2 might let some germs get away scot-free.. and THEN survive to become drug-resistant! *Cue for dramatic music* Ah.. Will finish the antibotics lah. So much ado about nothing. Ah well, in any case, since physically everything seems to be going dandy, I will just go ahead and be an overconfident commander-in-chief with suspiciously poor credentials and declare major combat operations in |
