We had a "National Day Special" at Kids'Church yesterday where game stalls were set up for the children. The 2 sessions generally had this more fun-oriented feel too. The one moment that had a great effect on me was entirely serious though. We got the kids to say the national pledge as part of the program. I have to say, for all the whining and groaning I've been doing about NS life, when we recited the words I geniunely felt a surge of pride. I really do appreciate the fact that I am part of such a great country. OK, so doing NS is sort of giving a little back in return. --- It's now roughly 8:30pm over here, I'm at Jurong Point's Macs using their free internet service. No, today's not a holiday for our course's people. Its only due to the kindness of our course commander that we are granted a Night's Out. No wait, its sort of a compensation actually. Since the rest of Sungei Gedong camp will all be engaged in NDP activities tomorrow, we guys got 'volunteered' by our course comm to do guard duty for the day. Some of my ex-classmates went back to our alma mater this morning. Awhile ago, my ex-classmates called me to join them for makan & coffee over at Bugis. Sigh. As much I want to bethere, I'll remain here at Boon Lay. The travel time's simply too long back and forth the 2 places. But seriously, for those can could make it, enjoy the talking and catching up yah? I PROMISE I'll turn up at MI for Teachers' Day, one way or another. >:] Before I go, a Happy 40th National Day you all. |
