The Project Green Grass gig was simply good beyond words. From between 5-10pm it was mostly exhilarating rhythms and sounds. The weather almost put a halt to the event. It was either the hot humid equatorial air causing much sweating or the grey clouds overhead ever threathening. Fortunately everything went pretty OK in the end. Surreal (from left to right) - Jon (guitar + vocals) , John C (bass), Luke (drums), Gordon (vocals), Glenn (guitar) It was definitely great that I had good friends to enjoy the gig with ala Shamz, Lloyd, Jamie+bf, Edmund. And Jason. I say man, thank God for the guy. He was standing far far at the back of the crowd until I decided I wanted to mosh more and passed him the digicam. Once you put him behind the lens the bold artist just leaped right out. Credit for most of the West grand Boulevard, Surreal and Vertical Rush shots have to go to him. Definitely an eye opening moment for me ;) Another thing worth noting was Surreal's set. While I might be a Surreal fan, I don't think I'm biased when I say that their set was the best of the bands. The crowd really got going with moshing and even surfing. The most surprising thing about it was the warm friendliness of the people; no vicious elbowings or launching out at others. Girl-friendly even. When some guy dropped his glasses afew of the guys even stopped to help search. Really beautiful moment. Us with members from Vertical Rush, from left to right: Darren (drums), Marcus (guitar), Jason (fan), TTTT (groupie), Esmond (vocals), Shaun(bass), Nick (vocals + guitar) I'll let the photos tell the rest of the story. Click on the pics above to view the gallery I made. Cheers. |
