""Cursed is the ground because of you;"Why is Thomas all so holy & solemn today?" My mom does deliveries for Yakult for the flats in my neighbourhood. And that means alot of walking, climbing up & down stairs. When she's tired or not free, I help out abit. Me: just came back from yakultin'And you might think that a batch of Yakult which has 5 Yakult tiny-bottles, its not that hard what. Multiply that by 14. A full bag of yummy sweet Yakult, & I'm delivering them to homes like some sort of payment-collecting Santa Claus. And I hate Santa Claus. Its not that I hate doing the delivering itself. Helping out my ma' once in awhile is OK. Might have been hard to kick my ass out of my nap, but once I'm not stoned, yah I'm cool. It's just that for a part of today's delivery, it really felt like the ground was all thorns and thistles to walk, and that eating grass from the field was a way better experience. Well, at least trotting a full bag of beneficial bacteria about my area ranks higher on my "things I will do willingly" list than hanging out with the siblings Diarrhoea & Fever. I comfort myself in the thought that by doing this, its like an ironic middle-finger gesture on my part. HAH! Millions of evil germs dead by my immune system! Booyah! After 4 whole paragraphs of narcissism, you would think that the last thing I would talk about now is my consideration of a part-time night shift job @ 7-11. ... OK wait, look at my logic. 1) Near my house (2 minutes or less by walk/cycle/skate scoot) 2) Nocturnal job. No clash with school. 3) 7 Eleven. How much brain power does it take? 4) I'm hoping that apart from carry huge boxes about, there won't be much work. Of course, I could be totally off for points 3 & 4. And about no clashing with school, an abrupt increase in assignment load in 1 or 2 subjects would totally overload my new schedule. So, why would Mr. Tan suddenly decide to want a job? SHOW. ME.. THE MONEY. Doesn't it make you feel good just to say that? Say it with me one time brother! ... BAAAH. But seriously, all in all, it can't really be that bad. Wait. MacDonalds turned out to be as easy as rocket science. But nevermind. My decision has already been settled unilaterally, at least for July. Turns out my History teacher who teaches the Southeast Asian topics is abruptly leaving at the end of the month. I haven't talk to her personally about it, but I hazard a guess that the reasons are similar to the ones cited here. Seriously, as a long-time student, 13 years this year, & being a big part of the problem, I can tell you that a vocation in education makes you become a jaded, neurotic, and overall, less pleasant as a person. And among teachers, they have a sort of tribal behaviour that makes that as normal as cave trolls. A certain ministry's motto for education used to be that it is a noble mission in "moulding the future". But a teacher I know pointed out that in the process, the teacher him/herself becomes moldy. Its a crappy job, but hey, someone has to handle the shit right? But... wahlaoeh... No 7-11 leh! No crappy work also = no happy money. ARGH. |

Add another pro to your list on why you should take up 7-11 job. "Get to sell condoms to underage kids".
Teachers. Never really gave em much thought. Even during teachers day, how many students actually appreciated their teachers? I think you only truly appreciate them after you leave school. Uhm, at least that's how it goes for me.

Amen bro, speak that truth. I really don't think that teachers would get it when the students do J-pop, K-pop or even english pop dances for them. Breakdancing... depends. Maybe the teachers would get entertained by the circus-like "extraordinary feats" but the background music would kill them.
