...is a promising little indie film that Thomas does not want to see, and that I do very much want to see, and so I am taking (extremely) petty revenge by using his blog to publicise the movie while he's out LP-ing.
*sticks tongue out, blows a few raspberries, writes mean things on the playground equipment* Ssshhh. Don't tell him. (TTTT: Hi.) Oh, yeah. Publicising. Garden State was written and directed by Zach Braff, (Scrubs) who also stars in it, alongside Natalie Portman, Peter Sarsgaard (no, I don't know who he is either) and Ian Holm (Bilbo Baggins, looking a lot less baggy in this film). The synopsis is available on the site, but doesn't really do it justice - visit Zach Braff's blog for a more detailed explanation of the film. He's pretty talented. And Jewish, if you're into kugel and the Torah. Finally, it's got a lovely soundtrack. Better than Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, in my book. Less airy-fairy, tinkly intellectual. I'd like to recommend the track used in the Garden State trailer, which is covered by a different band (Iron and Wine) in the soundtrack: Such Great Heights by Postal Service. That's all. My inner tantrum-throwing six-year-old is satisfied. PS. Constantine, the movie, is coming out next year. Trailer looks like shit, but Hellblazer! I love you, Vertigo Comics. Reply by TTTT (7:12am, Sept 11th) I switch on my PC, login to my blog.. to see this. Can't say that it's an unpleasant surprise though. Mel, you never told me that the Scrubs dude was the one behind Garden State. No wonder he looked familiar. Just because he totally ruled in Scrubs, I'll reconsider my decision not to catch the movie. ;) By the way, ESOTSM's soundtrack is NOT "airy-fairy"! His excellency the Great Jon Brion is beyond comparision! *Bawls & wails. Pauses to wipe away drool & froth* Lastly, I can't say I'm exactly doing a celebratory Kallang Wave over the news of the movie adaptation of Vertigo Comics' HellBlazer. I mean, heck, Constantine is played by the ever stoic & cold Keanu Reeves. When I say "stoic" and "cold", I mean that in the way that a rock is more likely to win more respectable awards for its convincing acting abilities if it tried to. Lines like "Whoa." and "I know Kung Fu." are simply not the hallmark of a solid actor. OK, that's about it. If ya'all will excuse me, I will be off to calm down my blood pressure. |
