We 3 brothers were hanging around at the badminton court waiting for our mum to get done with things and come out from the home to go for Chinese New Year visitations. And then I realise that this was one of those rare moments when all 3 of us are together - These days most of the week I'm in camp and on weekends either/both James and Anthony are out at church or with friends. Time flies and before we know it they'll have their first girlfriends, bike/car, job, flat then everyone will be moving out and living grown up lives and- "Eh let's take a picture together while we're waiting for mother."So here you have it. Dearest mom, I know you're always proud of your sons but I'll add on the pride: - Anthony is 13, good at the guitar and has a maturity beyond his age. - James is 17, but already a very responsible and thoughtful young man unlike most happy-go-lucky peers his age. - Thomas is 21. Yesterday he was this little chubby bundle you cradled and fawned over. Now when you talk to him you have to strain your neck looking up. Where did the years go? Sometimes I catch what I thought was awe in your eyes and I'm reminded of the expectations of being the firstborn and the oldest of the 3. I don't know what good things to say about myself. I just want you to be proud. |
