I hate it when bands play at roadshows. Sure, any appearance is a good opportunity for a bit of cash and some outdoor airtime plus publicity, but the sound setup's usually crap, the crowd's half-assed and people don't show the appreciation for the effort the musicians have to put in to do gigs like this. Futhermore, due to the nature of the roadshow, the bands are naturally relegated to being "side dishes".

Great Spy Experiment sounded awful a week back at Suntec, but you couldn't blame them - Bad acoustics and draconian volume restrictions. But even that wasn't considered the worst of things. I wasn't around at the time but I was told by GSE's Saiful that earlier on Electrico's 2nd set got cut off half way cos' the management complained that it was too loud.

What the F- You don't CUT OFF people who've played during the NDP! You might as well cancel a Singapore Idol meet-and-greet half way cos' them bloody kids keep screaming too much and waving them retarded signboards. And too loud? No offense dude, but if you wanted tranquility you should have gotten mimes to put up a play. Or story-telling done by sign language. Better yet, if you still want to kid yourself that you're "hip and rocking" or whatever, hire me. I can do some crazy mean air guitar on stage man. That why I hate things like this, we end up having to give too much leeway to the mainstream agenda.

Well, for what its worth at least the band had fun. Apart from being all indignant and pissy, I had fun too. And look on the bright side of things:
